Get a haircut!

Scott's rule is if you can get a good mohawk in the tub it's time for a haircut. Jackson, however, is trying to grow his hair out. Apparently, it's the "in" thing to have a shaggy haircut in second grade these days. He actually looks pretty cute. These are pictures of the failed "tub test".

Luke's snowblower

Luke loves to do anything that Dad and/or Jackson does, including plowing the snow. When Scott gets out the big, loud snowblower, Luke HAS to get all bundled up to go with him, using his own snowblower, aka the Fisher-Price lawnmower.

Also notice in the picture of Jackson he is wearing shorts. This has become his "signature apparel" this winter. The only time he wears pants is to church.

I took Jackson and Kaitlyn to President Hinckley's viewing at the Conference Center on Friday. We were thinking it would take about an hour and a half to go through it. We were there for three hours! I felt it was important for them to go, since President Hinckley has been their prophet. We winded our way through the plaza, then inside were we were seated in the large hall with all the seats. They brought back people section by section. This took forever! The kids were so bored and hungry, but relatively well-behaved. We finally got to file into the Hall of the Prophets where his casket was. It was moving to see him, but suprisingly, it didn't look like him. It always amazes me how much character a person loses when their spirit is not with their body anymore. He looked very old and pasty and made up. When we walked out, Jackson's friend, Sam, said, "Are we going to see President Hinckley now?" I think he had been looking at all the paintings and out the windows for so long, he walked right past him when we finally got there! This cute worker overheard us and offered to take Jackson and Sam back through so they could see him. I thought this was so thoughtful. It would have really been three hours of just boredom for Sam otherwise!

When we walked out of the Conference Center, I couldn't believe the lines! They snaked the plaza, then headed up both sides of the block, then wrapped around the building! So many people who loved President Hinckley! The news that night said people didn't finish until 11:30, and I believe it! This was the most touching part of the excursion for me. All those people who were there, with their families and little ones. I think that's what I will remember most about such a great man--he saw people for the good in them, no matter who they were, where they lived or what they believed. I think this is a lesson for all of us.
